Daylight Savings Time Reminder

Just as a reminder, Daylight Savings Time ends this Sunday at 2:00 a.m. and residents should adjust their clocks to "fall back" one hour at that time. As usual, the Fire Department also encourages everyone to change the batteries in their smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors when they change the clocks. This year, while you have the ladder out, we encourage residents to "change a bulb" when you change the clocks and batteries. Replacing even one conventional light bulb with an energy-efficient bulb in a ceiling fixture can save $30 per year per bulb on your electricity bill, not to mention the significant energy savings that you will help create. Energy efficient lighting is particularly important in the fall when Daylight Saving Time ends and the days are shorter. The latest generation of energy-saving lighting includes compact fluorescent bulbs that fit in standard light sockets and provide pleasant, uniform light.
