Mark Your Calendars for the Rose Show! – June 13

The Village is planning its 48th Annual Rose Show to be held on SATURDAY, JUNE 13
from 2 – 4:30 p.m. at Plymouth Place, 315 N. La Grange Rd. This year’s theme is
“The Days of Wine and Roses”, and will be ever-present at the show with a special wine
tasting event alongside the rose competitions. Residents are encouraged to attend this
special La Grange Park tradition and to get involved in advance of the event – details
below!
Children’s Coloring Contest
We are asking students/participants to use their imaginations – to draw and color a picture of a rose or group of
roses. There will be first, second, third and honorable mention prizes awarded for the following age divisions:
Ages 4 & under, Ages 5 – 7, Ages 8 – 11, Ages 12 & up. The local area schools have been contacted regarding
this contest but certainly any La Grange Park school age child can enter. To enter, go to the Village’s website
and download an entry form and turn it in with the drawing at Village Hall no later than June 8. Entry forms are
also available for pick up at Village Hall. Last year the Children’s Coloring Contest was re-instated and the
winner of that contest (pictured at top) is this year’s Village vehicle sticker – a new tradition that we hope to keep
building on.
Enter the Rose Contest – It’s Easy and Fun!
The show is open to all gardeners – there are two ways to enter:
1. Division I - Specimens. In this competition, you bring in your single rose or spray grown by you. This
rose is put into a particular classification and judged.
2. Division II – Artistic Design. In this creative competition you can purchase your roses and follow one
of the five themed classes: 1. Meadowland; 2. A Gift for the Hostess; 3. Sunshine and Roses; 4. Memories; and 5.
Like a Child At Play. For the details, please see the Village’s website at www.lagrangepark.org. To enter
this division, call Marilyn Pulaski of the La Grange Park Garden Club at 708-482-3921. She can also
answer questions you may have regarding your arrangement. (Please note: there is no need to register
for Division I – you simply show up with your rose.)
